About Dr. Karina Gil

Hi there! ¡Hola! I’m a transformative career and life coach, consultant, inspirational speaker, educator, researcher, and author dedicated to helping others find their path and purpose.

I hold a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University, a Master’s in Social Work focusing on political issues from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Mary’s University.

​

With over a decade of experience in academia, I had the privilege of serving as an Associate Professor and the former Director of the Worden School of Social Service at Our Lady of the Lake University—the oldest school of social work in Texas. Before my academic career, I spent more than ten years as a political social worker, collaborating with local organizations and national think tanks. I worked closely with diverse communities on coalition building, managing multi-city campaigns, grassroots organizing, issue-based campaigns, and shaping impactful policies at the state level.

As the President of the Association of Latina Latino Social Work Educators, I am committed to advancing social work education and promoting diversity and inclusion. My passion for research and advocacy centers on issues crucial to BIPOC women, such as access to leadership positions, race, ethnicity, and decolonizing practices. I regularly share my insights through articles, media interviews, and presentations at national and international conferences. Additionally, I've shared my personal journey as a professional, immigrant, and divorced Latina navigating the dating world on various podcasts.

Throughout my career, I’ve held leadership roles in numerous local, state, and national organizations. My extensive managerial and leadership experience enables me to work effectively with organizations, companies, and higher education institutions. I offer tailored consulting services that guide them toward achieving transcendent leadership, inclusive management practices, and meaningful diversity initiatives. My approach helps organizations build stronger, more inclusive cultures that drive success and impact.

Volunteering my expertise is something I hold close to my heart, especially during critical times like the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when I co-chaired the Emergency Immigration Task Force for the City of San Antonio and the Bexar County Social Service Committee.

Mentoring, coaching, advising, and educating are my true calling. I’ve been honored to guide countless students and professionals as they navigate their careers and daily lives, helping them achieve their fullest potential. This deep-seated passion for empowering others led me to create the CENTERS Method℠. This holistic approach enables individuals and organizations to connect with their higher purpose and transform their lives. Drawing on my extensive experience, I offer coaching that fosters personal and professional growth, helping clients realize their potential and live fulfilling impactful lives.
